How to wash linen fabric before sewing?

Linen, like most natural fabrics will experience a shrinkage of 3-10% when washed. To lessen the effects of shrinkage when washing a completed linen project, it is recommended to prewash linen before sewing. Love this linen

Love the quality of this fabric. I use it a lot in making hand towels. Perfect weight and washes and irons nicely.

    Gracious fabric...

This linen is just fabulous. I've purchased it in three colors, and they all perform beautifully. (Experience has taught me that the exact same fabric, but in different colors, doesn't always behave the same. I'm assuming it's the dyes?) I'm really having fun working with it -- it presses so nicely -- and yes, it also wrinkles as linen does -- but, as the Irish say: "ah, but it wrinkles so graciously".
