Highland Wool Felt fabric is manufactured by compacting fibers through agitation, heat, and moisture using a blend of 70% Wool, 15% Polyester, 7% Nylon and 8% Acrylic. Highland Wool felt fabric measures approximately 58" in width, weighs 27.2 oz per linear yard, has a 435 GSM, and is approximately 3 mm thick. A heavy weighted fabric, Highland Wool Felt fabric has a full drape when hung. Highland Wool Felt fabric is available in a variety of bold colors. Dense and smooth felt
The felt was bought for a sewn version of a Tam O'Shanter hat (think the Scottish hats from Outlander). The fabric was the absolute perfect weight. It will mold to a shape slightly, so you can ease it to make it slightly smaller or larger with steaming (great for curves). The wool is felted well and doesn't shed too much; shedding will always happen with felt, but I wasn't overwhelmed by it. The Charcoal is true to color and has an almost heather to it, giving it some dimension. Sewing was just fine, as was ironing (you can see in the picture of the center inside of the meeting of the 6 wedges that it flattens well).
