Don’t let the process of picking outdoor fabric overwhelm or discourage you. In reality, it can be a quick and easy process. To make this decision less stressful, continue reading the information below for a quick explanation of how to choose the best outdoor fabric. By the end of this article, you will have found the most durable and aesthetically pleasing option out there!
Look at All of Your Options
There are numerous options out there when it comes to outdoor fabric. Educating yourself and looking into all the brands and companies that have their own outdoor fabric will help you find the right one for your project. If you don’t investigate all your options, you might miss the perfect one!
UV Resistance
Different fabrics have different UV resistance. Some fabrics are only rated for a handful of hours, whereas others may be rated for up to 10 years of UV resistance. PVC or PU coated fabrics are not as UV resistant as solution dyed fabrics. This is because PVC or PU coated fabrics are dyed later in the fabric manufacturing process, whereas solution dyed fabrics are dyed when polyester fibers are still in liquid form.
How Durable Is It?
If you are specifically looking for outdoor fabric, that is probably because you want it to be durable, be able to withstand weather conditions, and have stain-protectant features. Some fabrics are more durable than others, so looking at all your options and educating yourself on them is key.
Consider the Price
When starting the project, make sure that you set a reasonable budget that you can stick within. Stay firm on that amount and work within that price range. Consider what you can spend when looking at the options that fall in that category.
Pick the Right Design for You
This is the fun part! Many of these outdoor fabrics come in different colors and designs. Truthfully, the options are nearly endless. All you have to do is pick the right design and color for your fabric.

Looking for water proof or resistant. Fade resistant canvas for patio covering. Old covering appears to be very thin. Size of project is 120 inches x 120 inches. Should I purchase heavy duty needle. My sewing machine is nice Kenmore Sears, it is not a heavy duty machine. Budget per yard is 10.00.
Thank you Connie
