Plain-dyed georgette is 100% polyester fabric and is 60" wide. This georgette fabric is a sheer and light-weight fabric, displaying an overall bouncy look. Georgette fabric is very similar to chiffon in both drape and feel but tends to be slightly heavier. With its crepe-like texture and its unusual strength, georgette is widely favored for voluminous and lively gowns and dresses.
This fabric is excellent to use as overlays, sheer inserts, scarves and drape extensions. Our designers also use georgette to accessorize their designs, due to its highly absorbent nature. I needed an inexpensive option for table runners and this fabric was the perfect weight for them. They hung beautifully and cut easily. I cut 3 yard sections from my order. The cut the 3 yards of fabric into (3) 20” x 108” .

I am a beginner and have never used a georgette before.... I found it very difficult to cut (very slippery) and have discovered that I will now need to learn the process of lining dresses that do not call for linings in the pattern. The pattern called for a "double georgette" and perhaps I am now learning that just georgette and double georgette are very different. One can see the lines on the dress form through the fabric. Other photos included in this review section do make the fabric look really nice and flouncy. The fabric does have a nice texture and color. (And was cheaper than making the test dress out of muslin! So I figured I'd take the chance and just go ahead and make the dress out of the final fabric.)

Good quality, I was worried the fabric would fray easily but luckily it didn't! The drape of the fabric is very nice. I used it to make a 1530s veil and was very pleased with the results.
