Description
Silk linen matka fabric is 100% silk, 54" wide and has an extremely soft woven texture available in many colors. The silk is created by warping together extracted fibers of silkworm cocoons found in the far east. Once extracted, the silk is spun together by hand without removing sericin from the fibers, which helps to keep the fabric thick while retaining its extremely soft texture. Because of the particular methodology that goes into creating this silk, it is very hard to find and manufacture.
This fabric also features naturally occurring slubs and ridges all throughout its surface. These slubs give the fabric a textured linen-like look but one touch of the fabric reveals a soft and cozy feel. Its medium weight and rustic look come together to create a one-of-a-kind gorgeous fabric.
The matka silk works wonderfully with various garment creations such as dresses, ball gowns, shirts and other timeless heirloom garments. Use this fabric to create masterpieces that are sure to exhibit a royal and unique look that will stand out at any event.

I had been searching for months to find replacement fabric for a jacket that had been damaged beyond repairs. It was my husband's favorite. Our local tailor suggested this site to find the special fabric needed to recreate this sport coat. Waiting now for the tailor to complete construction.

Ive been using matka silk for 20 + years now. FWD’s white matka is as good as any other and a really nice white. It is not a stark white, but definitely white not creamy, beige-y or natural. I’ll use it again for sure.

Haven't used this fabric yet, still admiring it. It is lovely. I washed and dried it, and it came out of the drier very soft and flowy. It has substantial weight, so could be put to a variety of uses. I will use it for pants, skirts, and tops, and perhaps sleep with it !
